Gal Gadot, renowned for her portrayal of Wonder Woman, recently shared a deeply personal and harrowing experience from 2024, revealing the challenges she faced during her fourth pregnancy and the subsequent birth of her daughter, Ori. Her candid narrative, shared on Instagram, detailed a frightening medical emergency that underscores the fragility of life and the importance of heeding our bodies’ signals. Gadot’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the potential complications of pregnancy and the critical need for awareness and early detection.

In February 2024, during her eighth month of pregnancy, Gadot began experiencing debilitating headaches that confined her to bed. Initially dismissing them, she eventually underwent an MRI which revealed a “massive blood clot” in her brain. This diagnosis plunged Gadot and her family into a period of intense fear and uncertainty, forcing them to confront the precariousness of life. The discovery of the blood clot necessitated emergency surgery within hours, a procedure that coincided with the birth of her daughter, Ori. The name Ori, meaning “my light,” became a poignant symbol of hope and resilience during this challenging time.

Amidst the anxiety and medical urgency, Gadot found solace in the anticipation of her daughter’s arrival. Before undergoing surgery, she expressed to her husband, Jaron Varsano, that Ori would be the light waiting for her at the end of this difficult journey. The birth of Ori, amidst such precarious circumstances, became a testament to both the resilience of the human spirit and the profound connection between mother and child. Gadot’s story highlights the strength and courage she displayed during this ordeal, focusing on her daughter as a beacon of hope.

Through the expert care of her medical team at Cedars Sinai hospital, Gadot successfully underwent surgery and embarked on the path to recovery. Expressing gratitude for the life she had been given back, she emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body and recognizing that even subtle changes can signal significant underlying issues. Gadot’s experience served as a wake-up call, emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy and proactive healthcare.

Gadot’s story also sheds light on a relatively rare but serious medical condition. She revealed that she was unaware that cerebral venous thrombosis, the type of blood clot she experienced, affects approximately 3 in 100,000 pregnant women over the age of 30. By sharing her story, she aims to raise awareness about this condition and encourage others to be vigilant about their health. Early detection and treatment are crucial in managing cerebral venous thrombosis, and Gadot’s message underscores the importance of being informed and proactive.

Sharing a touching photo of herself cradling newborn Ori in her hospital bed, Gadot further reflected on the experience in her Instagram Story. She described childbirth as a miracle, a testament to the strength and resilience of the human body, while also acknowledging the immense demands it places on women. Her message emphasized the importance of self-care, urging women to prioritize their well-being as fiercely as they care for others. As she celebrated Hanukkah, Gadot expressed gratitude for the “personal miracle” of Ori’s birth and the profound lessons she learned throughout the ordeal. Ori, she declared, serves as a constant reminder of resilience, hope, and inner strength. Gadot’s story concludes with a heartfelt wish for everyone to find their own light, experience their personal miracles, and continue advocating for their health and the well-being of others. Her vulnerability and openness serve as an inspiration, reminding us of the power of sharing our stories and the importance of supporting one another.
