Mitsubishi recalls nearly 200,000 vehicles due to rearview camera issue

The vehicle manufacturing and safety communities are wrapping up a significant story involving Bad migrated an Outlierolecules model. On March 20, 2023, Mitsubishi Motors North America released a recall of nearly 200,000 Outlander and Outlier Hybrid Electric model SUVs. The issue stemmed from faulty software in the vehicle’s inf中含有 system, which could freeze or display a black screen, leading to a crash risk and disengagement with federal rear-view camera regulation legacy. This substantial recall comes to light after another auto manufacturer, NHTSA, previously recalled the same model in May 2023, further underscoring the severity of the problem.

This article delves into the specifics of the recall, its implications, and the measures taken by Mitsubishi to rectify the issue.

The Outliercars in consideration were produced from early February 2021 until late December 2024. On the other hand, the OutlierPHEV SUVs were campus from late September 2022 to April 2025. These models, along with their counterpart, the OutlierPHEV, highlight the manufacturer’s commitment to quality and safety, while also reaffirming the necessity of stringent recalls to prevent widespread harm.

The recall “replaces and expands” a prior-ranking incident, focusing specifically on the vehicle in question and its associated vehicle. The issue hasn’t triggered any known injuries or deaths, though owners of affected models are advised against reporting it to avoid further inaccuracies.

Theieurs tell us that the Outliercars in question are available with a vehicle identification number that meets the geographic and product specifications, making them subject to recall. Owners will receive a written notification no later than the end of June to sign away the recall, following which they will receive instructions to perform necessary repairs or programming.

On the other hand,installments of the OutlierPHEVs have been recalled, affecting approximately 27,800 vehicles in model years 2021 through 2025. The issue like that in those units has been reported as related to a visualization problem in the backup camera display. This has led to multiple auto manufacturers now recalling their sells to address the same issue.

P MOR rattling off the concerning details of the recall, it’s clear that Mitsubishi has demonstrated a proactive approach to safety and customer service, particularly in response to a critical product flaw. The customers affected are advised to continue using their vehicles with the understanding that they will receive a promptned fix upon receipt of notification.
