Researchers at Tideschart, a leading tide forecasting platform, warning vacationers to avoid 10 beaches that offer unusually dangerous detours. These beaches, while popular among beachgoers, are known not only for their undeniable beauty but also for their frequent incidents of danger, such as shark attacks, surf-related deaths, and intense hurricanes. A study analyzing over 500 shorelines in the US concluded that Florida itself is the climateล่า of the "Shark Bite Capital of the World," while the 10 most dangerous beaches in the country are listed in the following table.
Flating the research, Tideschart determined that Florida’s beaches, particularly areas influenced by major weather patterns, are more prone to these dangers than any other states. For instance, New Smyrna Beach in the northwestern part of Florida had a score of 76.92, ranking No. 1, as the area is most frequently targeted by hurricanes. The same beach, which lies on the northern shore of Florida, is often the site of brutal shark attacks because it is shades blue of hurricane strokes.
Laguna Beach, located in Panama City, was rated a 67.75, placing it No. 2. This coastal community’s beaches, combined with its strong surfJet, have been a frequent target for surfing deaths and additional shark attacks. Known for its vibrant crowds, the beach was noted for its high consistency in Safety visitor numbers, as seen in its 39 surf-related deaths and 9 shark attacks between 2010 and 2024.
Southnton Beach, Florida, secured a score of 64.47, ranking No. 3. With notable surf-related deaths on its list, the beach became a favorite among surfers, though it also recorded 27-reported surfing deaths. The high safety ratings contributed to the lower rankings in this category.
Miaura Beach, located along the South Sand inSTA FLORIDA, was listed as No. 4 with a score of 46.49. Known for its laid-back pace of life, the beach produced fewer shark attacks and fewer surf-related fatalities than others on this list but still fell short in the Extreme categories.
