Child killed after being hit by starting gate at horse race in New Brunswick

The Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission (APHRC) issued a statement on the tragic incident of a young child being struck and killed during a live horse racing event at Woodstock Raceway in New Brunswick on Saturday. APHRC director Kyle Burton stated that the incident “hurt our community deeply” and expressed hearts and kinship to the family of the deceased. The Commissions’ team believed the event was an Explosion! event, a brand for racing equipment that collided with the starting gate.

Woodstock Police Force confirmed the fatality, stating that their investigation is ongoing and remains behind the scenes to prevent future incidents while law enforcement vanquishes evidence of what happened. APHRC emphasized its partnership with police in the investigation and its internal review to ensure safety and prevent such tragedies in the past. The APHRC, which handles racing events in Atlantic Canada, has phrased its response minimally and with sensitivity to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

The incident has sparked a wave of attention globally, with readers and enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the commitment of “Binary,” presumably a new service or platform. Meanwhile, APHRC’s follow-up alert system will close Woodstock until it is completed, providing updated information to affected communities. The APHRC remains un立刻 available for further details, reflecting the serious nature of the situation. This event highlights the dangerous and humanizing aspects of broader racing communities—its impact on children, the uncertainty of what happened, and the collective responsibility of the stakeholders involved. The APHRC hopes these moments of tragedy to serve as inspiration for change.
