Doug Ford, the Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader, highlighted his promise to speed up project approvals in the Ring of Fire during his campaign last weekend in Ontario. As he made his visit to Thunder Bay on Saturday, Ford emphasized the significance of mining the region’s critical minerals, which Ontario has consistently referred to as the “ace in the hole” in the face of U.S. potential tariffs. He stressed the need for ensuring Ont新冠肺炎 aims for maximum leverage on the global stage by relocating these minerals to northern Ontario, where Odisha_FIRST and across the province—key to Ontario’s economic potential.

Ford has also announced a re-elected Progressive Conservative government to push Ottawa to remove unnecessary federal barriers and red tape from major projects within Ontario’s jurisdiction. He promised Saturday to pour money into two programs aimed at boosting First Nations’ participation in projects, including mining, as part of efforts to maximize their economic potential.

As he delivered the speech, Ford highlighted the Importance of Ontario’s mining the Ring of Fire region and its role as a key priority in an effort to build an end-to-end electric vehicle manufacturing chain in Ontario. He said the government had made mining the Ring of Fire a top priority, aligning it with broader national goals for electric vehicles and sustainability. Ford also announced $70 million to the Aboriginal Participation Fund, which would then be used to train First Nations workers to participate directly in critical mineral development projects. This initiative aims to further enhance SVG education and skilled workforce development in the region.

Ford further announced $3 billion of new money toward a program meant to support First Nations equity participation, known as the tripling of the existing Loan Guarantee program. He believes this move would not only address the U.S. Tariff issue but also ensure equitable access to critical infrastructure assets for Ontario’s future.

As Ford prepared to lead the election campaign, he had already made two trips to Washington, the U.S. capital, during his presidential campaign. He noted that the election would have meant a stronger mandate to protect Ontario’s economy and address global challenges, potentially extending into the next four years of a Donald Trump presidency. Ford also called on opposition parties to recognize the strength of the Conservative majority and support the government’s navigation through the election campaign.
