Euronews, the Brussels-based news organization, cemented its position as a leading provider of European news in 2024, achieving record-breaking audience engagement across its digital platforms. The organization’s strategic focus on original, in-depth coverage of European politics and policy resonated with a high-profile audience, including global leaders, policymakers, and influential figures. This success translated into impressive metrics: 31.5 million monthly active users and a staggering 1.06 billion page views, signifying an all-time high for Euronews. Complementing this digital growth, video content also flourished with over 1.6 billion views, solidifying Euronews’s multi-platform approach to news dissemination. This achievement underscores the network’s commitment to delivering pan-European journalism, catering to diverse audiences through various digital channels and innovative formats.

Euronews’s success story extends beyond headline figures, encompassing various engagement metrics across different platforms. Newsletters proved to be a powerful tool for audience engagement, with 65.7 million newsletters sent in 12 languages across 27 different formats. This resulted in a substantial base of 220,000 active subscribers who rely on Euronews for their daily and weekly news updates. The podcast landscape also proved fruitful, with 1.7 million downloads, particularly for “Radio Schuman,” a daily European affairs podcast, and “Tech Talks.” Furthermore, Euronews cultivated a thriving online community, boasting 33.2 million followers across YouTube and other social media platforms, generating an impressive 2.8 billion impressions, demonstrating the network’s extensive global reach.

The relocation of Euronews’s newsroom to Brussels, the heart of European institutions, has undeniably contributed to its growth and strengthened its focus on European affairs. CEO and Editorial Director Claus Strunz attributes this success to Euronews’s commitment to neutral and impartial reporting, a valuable asset in an increasingly polarized media landscape. He emphasizes that audiences appreciate this unbiased approach, seeking reliable information amidst a deluge of often-conflicting narratives. This commitment to neutrality is a cornerstone of Euronews’s journalistic identity, differentiating it in a competitive media market.

Looking ahead to 2025, Euronews aims to further expand its reach and accessibility. Ali Ihsan Aydin, Head of Digital, highlights the organization’s plans to explore innovative methods for delivering unique content in more languages and across various platforms frequented by European audiences. While maintaining a primary focus on high-profile audiences, Euronews also recognizes the importance of broader engagement and plans to expand its reach through service journalism and vertical content strategies. This approach aims to address everyday questions and empower audiences to make informed decisions in various aspects of their lives, extending the network’s relevance beyond traditional news coverage.

Euronews’s commitment to impartial journalism has been a hallmark of the organization since its inception in 1993. Over the years, it has built a reputation for delivering trusted news to a global audience, reaching 495 million homes in 160 countries, with a significant presence in Europe, where it reaches 82% of households. This broad reach translates to over 400 million people accessing Euronews content monthly, both through traditional television broadcasts and various connected devices. This widespread availability underscores Euronews’s commitment to reaching audiences wherever they consume news.

At the core of Euronews’s operations is a diverse and multilingual team of 300 journalists representing over 30 nationalities. This diverse team provides comprehensive coverage of European and world news 24/7 across 13 different language editions. This multilingual approach not only ensures wider accessibility to information but also contributes to a more nuanced and representative perspective on global events, reflecting the diverse voices and viewpoints within Europe and beyond. The breadth of Euronews’s linguistic offerings highlights its commitment to serving a truly pan-European audience and contributing to a more interconnected and informed world.
