The latest update highlights a tragic multi-vehicle crash that occurred along I-80 in Cone Farm, Wyoming. The event occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the highway, in the Green River Tunnel, which has now been shut down in both directions. The scene has been densely investigated, and the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has confirmed the details, including the number of casualties and the ongoing efforts to mitigate the risk.

WYDOT defended the deaths saying, “I am deeply concerned for the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragic accident,” he said. “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in this collision and the families they brought into this sudden and unexpected tragedy.” Meanwhile, NewsWoman reported that a cloud of black smoke emerged from the tunnel, accompanied by a warning of hazardous weather conditions, further emphasizing the dangers posed by the weather.

WYDOT Director Darin Westby shared on Twitter, “My heart is broken for the families and loved ones of the victims of this terrible crash,” expressing lengthy grief. “My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are involved. I remain on-site to assist local emergency responders and provide additional support and traffic control during this特殊的 moment.”

The crash is斱shown[WPSgt Karl Germain shared a message on Twitter Many first responders are wishing him solamente tradamicendo emojis: “Just after 1137AM, Troopers responded to a multi vehicle crash WB I 80 at milepost 90.2 inside the WB tunnel. Troopers are investigating fatality involved in this crash. There are road closures & detours. Please check http://wyoroad.info more updates to come.”

The scene is fully secured with officials working to assess the tunnel’s infrastructure. Traffic diversions are already in place, restricting both east and west lanes for temporary use. WHP, coningsouth with the westbound lanes closed until mile marker 91, and eastbound until mile marker 89. This traffic management effort, driven by public concern and local emergency planning, is crucial for minimizing delays and safety concerns.

The outcome of the crash is a significant blow to traffic management in Wyoming. Leaving I-80 undisturbed in both directions forces authorities to focus on lateral breathing in the tunnel, which is prone to collapse due to weather-induced displacement. While the exact timing of I-80 reopening remains unclear, it raises concerns about potential slope-slip derivatives and the continued risks associated with current conditions.

While no plans have been established to immediately reopen the highway, NewsWoman warns that safety measures will continue to play a central role. A map,Fearometer, detailing the extent and type of risk, is available for further public understanding. For the latest updates, follow WYORoad.info.
