Retired Army Officer Alleges Car Bomb Threat from Matthew Livelsberger in Email Communication

The New Year’s Day Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas, which claimed the life of the driver and injured seven others, has taken a dramatic turn with the revelation of a chilling email reportedly sent by the driver, Matthew Livelsberger, less than 24 hours before the incident. Retired U.S. Army officer Sam Shoemate disclosed the email’s existence during an interview on The Shawn Ryan Show, a popular podcast, asserting that Livelsberger claimed to possess a car bomb. The email, allegedly sent at 10:42 a.m. ET on Tuesday, reportedly contained a manifesto detailing Livelsberger’s belief that he was being tracked by federal agents. He purportedly stated that they wouldn’t act against him due to his possession of a “massive VBIED,” or vehicle-borne improvised explosive device – essentially, a car bomb. This alarming revelation has intensified scrutiny of the incident and raised questions about potential security failures.

Shoemate’s account, shared with a podcast boasting a substantial following that includes influential figures like Joe Rogan and Ivanka Trump, has swiftly gained traction. He maintains that Livelsberger initially contacted him via Instagram direct message on Sunday, three days before the explosion, followed by the email containing the manifesto on Tuesday. While Shoemate admitted to initial skepticism, dismissing the email’s contents as “bonkers” and unverifiable, the subsequent explosion lent a terrifying credence to Livelsberger’s claims. The stark contrast between the seemingly delusional pronouncements and the horrific reality of the explosion has fueled speculation and demands for a thorough investigation.

The email’s contents reportedly went beyond the claim of possessing a VBIED, encompassing a range of alarming assertions. These included predictions of an impending Chinese attack on the U.S. and the imminent outbreak of World War III. Such pronouncements, while potentially indicative of a disturbed mental state, gain a chilling significance in light of the subsequent explosion. The fact that Livelsberger, an Army veteran, communicated these claims to a former military officer adds another layer of complexity to the unfolding narrative.

Shoemate’s handling of the email has also drawn attention. He claims to have informed Livelsberger of his inability to connect him with Ryan, Fox News, and Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for defense secretary, as Livelsberger had requested. Following the explosion, Shoemate’s earlier dismissal of the email transformed into profound shock and disbelief. His subsequent decision to publicize the email’s existence, while potentially controversial, underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for answers.

The revelation of this email has understandably sparked a flurry of reactions and speculation. Shoemate himself acknowledged the potential for being drawn into conspiracy theories, given his background in intelligence, but maintained that he had “no choice” but to share the information. He entrusted the email to Shawn Ryan, believing that Ryan had the platform and objectivity to handle the sensitive information responsibly. Ryan’s subsequent announcement of a temporary hiatus from social media, citing the “mind-boggling” nature of the information, further fueled anticipation and speculation surrounding the case.

The FBI is now tasked with unraveling the complex web of details surrounding the explosion. Investigating Livelsberger’s motives, the veracity of his claims, and any potential warning signs that may have been missed will be crucial in determining the full scope of this tragic incident. The investigation will likely delve into Livelsberger’s background, mental state, and any potential connections to extremist ideologies. The explosion, initially perceived as a singular, horrific event, now appears embedded within a larger narrative involving unheeded warnings, potential security lapses, and the devastating consequences of unchecked extremism. The case continues to unfold, promising further revelations and a deeper understanding of the factors that led to this tragedy.
