This incident unfolds as a dramatic sequence of events, beginning with a near-collision between a FedEx truck and a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old in Jackson, Tennessee. The near-miss escalated quickly into a road rage incident where the teenager, angered by the close call, pursued the FedEx driver. Upon catching up to the delivery vehicle, the teen allegedly fired a shot at the driver, narrowly missing the FedEx worker’s head. This dangerous act prompted an immediate call to 911, alerting authorities to the unfolding situation.

The arrival of law enforcement officers further intensified the incident. Instead of surrendering, the teenager chose to flee the scene, leading police on a high-speed chase along Interstate 40. The pursuit reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, demonstrating the teen’s reckless disregard for safety and the law. Despite the officers’ efforts, the teenager managed to evade capture, temporarily escaping the consequences of his actions.

Following the initial incident and the unsuccessful pursuit, the US Marshals Service joined the investigation. The Marshals Service, known for its expertise in apprehending fugitives, brought its resources and experience to bear on the case. Through investigative work, they identified the teenager involved in the road rage incident and subsequent police chase. This identification marked a turning point in the case, shifting the focus from pursuit to apprehension.

The investigation also revealed the involvement of the teenager’s father, Ricky Maness Jr., 44. Maness Jr. allegedly provided false information to investigators regarding his son’s whereabouts, hindering the efforts of law enforcement to locate the fugitive. This act of obstruction placed the father squarely in the crosshairs of the legal system, compounding the legal troubles facing the family.

The culmination of the investigation arrived on Wednesday when US Marshals located the teenager hiding under a bed in his Lexington residence. This discovery brought an end to the teenager’s brief period of freedom and marked the beginning of his journey through the juvenile justice system. Simultaneously, the father, Ricky Maness Jr., was also apprehended for his alleged role in obstructing the investigation. His arrest underscored the seriousness with which authorities treat interference with law enforcement efforts.

The 17-year-old was booked and subsequently transported to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center, where he awaits further legal proceedings. His father, Ricky Maness Jr., was taken to the Henderson County Detention Center, pending arraignment. The arrests were executed by the US Marshals Service Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, a specialized unit operating in Western Tennessee. This task force, comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers, has a proven track record of apprehending violent offenders and sexual predators, having captured over 3,000 such individuals since 2021. This case underscores the importance of interagency cooperation and the dedication of law enforcement to upholding public safety and bringing those who endanger it to justice.
