TRICON Garage, a prominent contender in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is gearing up for the 2025 season with a significant restructuring of its crew chief and competition department. This strategic overhaul is aimed at bolstering the team’s performance and solidifying its position within the highly competitive Truck Series landscape. The reshuffling involves a mix of familiar faces in new roles and fresh additions, creating a dynamic blend of experience and emerging talent within the organization.

One of the key changes involves Jake Hampton’s promotion to crew chief for the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Hampton, who previously guided Taylor Gray in the latter half of the 2023 season, steps up to lead a full-time effort. This move signifies TRICON’s confidence in Hampton’s abilities to manage a team under the intense pressure of a full season and to forge a strong working relationship with his driver.

Another significant appointment is Derek Smith’s assignment as crew chief for Toni Breidinger’s No. 5 truck. Breidinger, transitioning to a full-time role in the series after a part-time stint in 2024, will be vying for the Rookie of the Year title. Smith’s experience will be crucial in guiding Breidinger through the challenges of a full season and maximizing her potential. This pairing represents a strategic investment in young talent, with Smith’s guidance expected to play a pivotal role in Breidinger’s development and success.

Providing a sense of stability amidst the changes, Scott Zipadelli remains the crew chief for the No. 11 team, partnering once again with Corey Heim. This continued collaboration leverages the established chemistry and successful track record between Zipadelli and Heim. Maintaining this pairing ensures a consistent and competitive force within TRICON’s lineup, offering a reliable anchor in the midst of other team adjustments.

Jeff Hensley shifts gears to become Tanner Gray’s crew chief for the No. 15 team. Hensley brings a wealth of experience to the table, and his appointment is intended to invigorate Gray’s performance and propel him forward in the series. This strategic move aims to capitalize on Hensley’s expertise and provide Gray with the support needed to elevate his racing career.

Rounding out the crew chief lineup is Jerame Donley, who takes charge of rookie Gio Ruggiero’s No. 17 entry. Donley’s diverse experience within the team throughout the 2024 season positions him well to guide Ruggiero through the complexities of a debut season in the NASCAR Truck Series. Ruggiero, fresh from the ARCA Menards Series East, will benefit from Donley’s versatility and experience, fostering a promising dynamic for the rookie driver’s inaugural season.

These crew chief assignments are accompanied by further organizational shifts. Jason Burdett, Tanner Gray’s crew chief for the final races of 2024, appears to have departed TRICON Garage, indicating a broader restructuring within the team. Meanwhile, Matt Puccia maintains his position as competition director, a role he has held since 2023, providing continuity within the leadership structure.

The 2025 season, marking the 31st edition of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, promises an exciting and challenging year. Starting on February 14th and culminating on October 31st, the season comprises 25 races, featuring a diverse mix of 22 oval and three road course events. This balanced schedule will test the adaptability and skill of all competing teams. For TRICON Garage, the restructured lineup presents a significant opportunity to capitalize on the strengths of its new and returning personnel. The team aims to leverage these changes to achieve greater success and establish themselves as a dominant force in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. With a blend of veteran experience and emerging talent, TRICON is poised to make a strong impact throughout the season. The team’s strategic restructuring reflects a commitment to continuous improvement and a drive to compete at the highest level. The 2025 season will be a crucial test of their new organizational structure and the effectiveness of their crew chief pairings. The stage is set for an exciting season of truck racing, and TRICON Garage is entering the fray with a revamped and revitalized approach.
