The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is actively participating in a nationwide operation targeting criminal aliens, collaborating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other law enforcement agencies under a directive from President Donald Trump. This joint effort leverages the FBI’s extensive resources, including tactical teams and intelligence networks, to bolster the capabilities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Border Patrol, and other partner agencies. Acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll emphasized the bureau’s commitment to this initiative, stating that all FBI field offices have been instructed to coordinate with their DHS counterparts and provide full support.

This collaborative approach has yielded significant results, exemplified by the apprehension of dozens of high-priority suspects in New York City. Among them was a suspected member of the violent Tren de Aragua gang, believed to be involved in a previous violent incident in Colorado. The joint operation also extended to El Paso, Texas, where the combined forces of the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), ICE, and its Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) wing successfully captured a suspect accused of operating a stash house for human smugglers. Director Driscoll highlighted the importance of interagency cooperation in addressing threats posed by criminal organizations and terrorist groups, emphasizing the combined strength of shared resources and expertise.

The FBI’s involvement goes beyond providing manpower and intelligence. In Chicago, the bureau deployed legal experts alongside tactical SWAT teams to assist in rounding up illegal immigrants with suspected criminal ties. In New York City, the FBI provided advanced tactical support and established a city-wide crisis management coordination center. This multifaceted approach underscores the FBI’s commitment to supporting DHS in its mission to enforce immigration laws and maintain public safety.

Over the past week, the nationwide operation has resulted in the apprehension of approximately 5,500 suspected criminal aliens, according to ICE figures. These arrests reflect the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts between the FBI, DHS, and other law enforcement partners. The focus on apprehending individuals with criminal records underscores the administration’s prioritization of public safety and national security.

The FBI’s involvement in this nationwide crackdown signifies a significant commitment of resources and expertise to support DHS in its efforts to enforce immigration laws. The bureau’s participation extends beyond providing tactical and intelligence support, encompassing legal expertise and crisis management coordination. The joint operations have already yielded significant results, demonstrating the effectiveness of interagency cooperation in apprehending suspected criminal aliens and addressing potential threats to public safety.

The combined efforts of the FBI, DHS, and other law enforcement agencies represent a comprehensive approach to tackling the issue of criminal aliens in the United States. By leveraging the strengths of each agency and fostering close collaboration, the operation aims to identify, apprehend, and remove individuals who pose a threat to communities across the country. The ongoing operations and the significant number of arrests highlight the scale and intensity of the nationwide crackdown.
