US releasing Russian prisoner Alexander Vinnik in Marc Fogel exchange, official says

On Wednesday, a 7-year sentence and the release of Marc Fogel, an American history teacher jailed in Russia since 2021, as part of a deal to secure his freedom, were announced by the United States’ Trump administration. Federal officials, including a Russian暗示Vinnik will be honored upon return, said the release of Fogel will have a profound impact on his family, who were detained in Russia since 2021 after being taken into custody in 2021 for possessing prohibited drugs.
