One of the most notable contributors to the success of Wordle is a Welsh software engineer named Josh Wardle. pys, who designed the game during the COVID-19 pandemic to relax himself and his partner. In an interview with Newsweek in 2022, Wardle explained that he crafted the game to allow players to enjoy it as much as anyone else. "When I designed the game, it was for me and my partner to enjoy, so I made sure that all of the entries were randomized. In other words, I don’t actually know what tomorrow’s word is going to be, which means that I can take part like everybody else."

The game has since become a favorite in many countries, with celebrities like Meghan Markle, Bradley Cooper, and Matt Damon regularly playing it for fun. Today, the puzzle is quite popular, with 1,329 players solving it daily. A recent tally revealed that the game has the number one global ranking, with 329 players correctly solving the challenge each day. The only exception is when the correct answer is on the last try, making it even more popular.*

Josh Wardle also shares some behind-the-scenes趣 facts with his interviews. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2023, he shared that the game’s name came from the prototype test version. "Testing different word lengths and experimenting with the number of tries that players were allowed, I figured out that five letters and six tries were the ideal sweet spot. It’s just limited enough to feel challenging and to make you think, but most of the time people still manage to solve it. So, you feel a real sense of real accomplishment."**
