Bernie Sanders agrees with Elon Musk’s call to cut Pentagon funding with DOGE after losing track of billions

Sen. Bernie Sanders supports the newly-established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after criticizing the Pentagon’s budget and failed audits on social media and agreeing with Elon Musk’s views. President-elect Trump selected Musk and former GOP presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE in an effort to reduce wasteful government spending. Sanders voiced his concerns about the Pentagon’s $886 billion budget, which failed its seventh audit in a row, losing track of billions. Musk responded to Sanders’ post with American flags, highlighting his stance against government overspending.

Musk continues to criticize government spending on social media, pointing out examples of wasteful projects like the California High-Speed Rail Project that received federal funding but have been delayed and overrun by costs. Musk emphasized that the interest owed on the national debt now exceeds the defense budget, leading the country towards bankruptcy. He advocated for the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to address the issue of government overspending and its impact on inflation. Musk highlighted the importance of understanding that all government spending is a form of taxation, either direct or indirect.

The national debt in the United States has surpassed $36 trillion, prompting Musk to warn that the country is heading towards bankruptcy due to excessive government spending. Musk stressed that government overspending leads to inflation, which affects the economy and the average citizen. He emphasized the need for a more efficient and entrepreneurial approach to government, as proposed by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk and Ramaswamy will serve as outside volunteers for DOGE, focusing on driving structural reform and promoting a more efficient government.

President-elect Trump expressed support for DOGE, stating that it will provide advice and guidance from individuals outside of the government to drive large-scale structural reform and enhance efficiency in government operations. Musk and Ramaswamy highlighted the need for a department like DOGE to address the growing concerns about government spending and fiscal responsibility. They emphasized the importance of creating a more efficient and accountable government structure to prevent the country from facing a financial crisis due to excessive debt and overspending. Musk’s social media posts and advocacy for DOGE underline the urgency of addressing wasteful spending and promoting fiscal responsibility in government operations.

The collaboration between Musk, Ramaswamy, and other individuals involved in DOGE represents a new approach to addressing government efficiency and fiscal responsibility. Their outside perspective and commitment to driving structural reform highlight the need for a more entrepreneurial approach to managing government operations and promoting accountability in spending. The establishment of DOGE reflects a broader effort to address the challenges posed by excessive government spending and its impact on the country’s economic stability. Musk’s advocacy for improving government efficiency and reducing wasteful spending resonates with concerns raised by various policymakers and public figures, indicating a growing consensus on the need for reform in government operations.
