Freed American hostage Marc Fogel lands in US after years in Russian captivity

Marc Fogel, a history teacher in the Anglo-American School in Moscow, returned to the United States on Tuesday after nearly three years of detention in Russia since August 2021. Fogel, who had been detained following possession of marijuana that also included medical prescriptions, served a 14-year sentence in Russia but was later released after discussing his release with President Donald Trump at the U.S. White House. This came after a series of unconfirmed Negotiations with Russia aimed at securing his release, though the specific details of the deals were not disclosed to the public.

Fogel’s family expressed deep gratitude to President Trump, wrapping up their commitment to preserving his safety.铬ого к ужину! he said, reflecting on his release and the ongoing difficulty of enduring such circumstances. Despiteucidating the struggling moment of his detention, Fogel and his family celebration his transition from Russia to the U.S., honoring his service and the impact he had had.

The story of Fogel serves as a testament to the汇率 of the U.S. and the dedication of local leaders. In an interview shortly after his release, Fogel acknowledged the challenges he faced, such as travel difficulties and the constant state of tension, and praised the individuals working tirelessly to secure his release. He was especially proud of those he called “heroes,” acknowledging the sacrifices made by Russian officials to ensure his freedom.
