2024 Nectar Premier Copper Mattress Review: An Elevated Offering

The Nectar Premier Copper mattress, now discontinued, was Nectar’s premium offering designed for hot sleepers seeking a cool and comfortable night’s sleep. It combined supportive memory foam with innovative cooling features, aiming to provide a refreshing sleep experience. While the mattress boasted a higher price point compared to other Nectar models, its performance was a key factor in determining its value. The Nectar Luxe and DreamCloud Premier Rest mattresses are recommended as comparable alternatives within the current market.

Upon unboxing, the all-foam Nectar Premier Copper exhibited the typical initial compression seen in mattresses of this type, requiring some time to fully expand. Once inflated, the mattress revealed a cool-to-the-touch cover, hinting at the potential effectiveness of the incorporated copper fibers. The Premier Copper offered a more responsive memory foam feel compared to the original Nectar, providing a balance between sink-in comfort and support. This characteristic made it suitable for a wider range of sleepers, including those who might not typically prefer traditional memory foam.

The Nectar Premier Copper fell between medium and medium-firm on the firmness scale, making it versatile for various sleeping positions. While suitable for all sleep styles, its slightly firmer profile offered a slight advantage for back and stomach sleepers. The perceived firmness, however, could vary depending on individual body weight, with heavier individuals experiencing a softer feel and lighter individuals finding it firmer.

The mattress’s construction consisted of multiple layers contributing to its overall performance. A base layer of dense support foam provided the foundation, followed by a responsive transition layer with Zoned Support for spinal alignment. The core of the mattress featured gel-infused memory foam topped with ActiveCool phase change material for temperature regulation. Finally, the copper-infused cover added a final layer of cooling and contributed to the mattress’s premium feel.

In terms of performance, the Nectar Premier Copper excelled in motion isolation, a crucial factor for those sharing a bed. The all-foam construction effectively dampened movement transfer, minimizing sleep disturbances. Edge support was considered decent for an all-foam mattress, although the hybrid version, with its reinforced coils, offered a more secure perimeter. While marketed as a cooling mattress, the Premier Copper was more accurately categorized as temperature-neutral. The copper fibers in the cover contributed to heat dissipation, but the overall cooling effect was not as pronounced as some “active cooling” options. The inclusion of phase change material, however, prevented excessive heat buildup.

Durability was expected to be good for a thicker all-foam mattress, with the hybrid version likely offering even greater longevity due to its coil system. The mattress also exhibited the common off-gassing odor upon unboxing, a temporary phenomenon that typically dissipates within a few days. The Nectar Premier Copper was best suited for individuals seeking a premium memory foam feel with some cooling properties, accommodating a range of sleeping positions and body types. Its slightly firmer profile favored back and stomach sleepers, while combination sleepers could also find it comfortable. Side sleepers, however, might prefer the softer Nectar Premier. The thicker construction of the Premier Copper made it suitable for various body types, although heavier individuals might benefit from the added support and durability of the hybrid version.

The Nectar Premier Copper’s pricing reflected its premium status, although discounts were frequently available. Nectar offered a comprehensive 365-night trial period, free shipping, and a forever warranty, providing consumers with ample time to test the mattress and peace of mind regarding its long-term performance. It was crucial, however, to use a compatible foundation to avoid voiding the warranty. In summary, the Nectar Premier Copper presented a compelling option for those seeking a responsive memory foam mattress with cooling features, suitable for a variety of sleeping preferences. While not the softest or most actively cooling option, its combination of comfort, support, and cooling properties made it a viable choice for many.

The comparison between the Nectar Premier Copper and the Nectar Premier highlighted key differences in firmness and cooling. The Nectar Premier offered a true medium firmness, ideal for all sleep styles, including side sleepers. The Premier Copper, being slightly firmer, was better suited for back and stomach sleepers. While both mattresses incorporated phase change material, the Premier Copper’s copper-infused cover provided an additional cooling element.

Comparing the Nectar Premier Copper to the DreamCloud Premier Rest revealed significant differences in feel and firmness. The DreamCloud Premier Rest, being softer, catered to side sleepers, while the slightly firmer Premier Copper was more suitable for back and stomach sleepers. While both mattresses offered a memory foam feel, the DreamCloud Premier Rest provided a more pronounced sink-in experience. Ultimately, the best choice depended on individual preferences and priorities regarding firmness, cooling, and overall feel.

The copper infusion in the Nectar Premier Copper’s cover aimed to enhance temperature regulation by drawing away body heat. While the impact of copper infusion on sleeping temperature might be subtle and often considered a marketing tactic, it could contribute to a slightly cooler sleep experience. The firmness of the Nectar Premier Copper remained consistent between the all-foam and hybrid versions, offering a balance between medium and medium-firm. This firmness level accommodated all sleeping positions, with a slight advantage for back and stomach sleepers, as well as combination sleepers.
