The Report Says The Taliban Is Carrying Out A Door-To-Door Manhunt In Afghanistan
A document from the UN government claims that the Taliban have stepped up themselves in searching people who worked for the previous Afghan government or the Nato forces. In addition to this, it is reported that the militants are wandering door-to-door to find their targets and are threatening their family members in this pursuit of search. However, on the other hand, the Islamist group, the Taliban, had tried ways to reassure that they would not be taking any kind of revenge against the Afghans when they came into power.
Fears are rooted in the past: What about the confidential report?
The Afghans have witnessed the Taliban ruling and dictating them in the early 1990s. This is the reason why Afghans are not yet convinced of the Taliban’s words of assurance. The RHIPTO Norwegian Center for Global Analyses that provides intelligence to the United Nations reported the Taliban targeting the collaborators. It is said that the information was revealed in a confidential document.
What did Christian Nellemann say?
Christian Nellemann, the head of the group behind the confidential document, told the BBC that there are many people that the Taliban are presently targeting. He adds to this by saying that the family members of every targeted individual will also be threatened on their behalf. Furthermore, the report claims that the writing denotes that unless the targeted individuals surrender to the Taliban, family members would be arrested, prosecuted, interrogated, and punished on behalf of the targeted people.
Are the foreign powers in progress in bringing their citizens out of Afghanistan?
The foreign countries are continuing their efforts to get their citizens out of Afghanistan. On Friday, a Nato official said that 18,000 people and more than them had been evacuated from the Kabul Airport for the past five days. Also, it is said that more than 6,000 people where most of them are foreign armed forces, would be evacuated from Afghanistan on late Thursday or early Friday. The official claimed that they aim to make their evacuation efforts two times better by the weekend.
How is the situation at the Kabul Airport?
It is reported that the situation remains disturbed and chaotic outside the Kabul Airport. Also, the Taliban has been blocking Afghans who are trying to flee from the place. Other information in Kabul includes anti-Taliban protests where there were casualties among the protestors in Asadabad. Also, a 19-year old guy, Zaki Anwari, a player in the national youth football team of Afghanistan, was found dead while falling from a US plane taking off from Kabul. Furthermore, the Taliban currently controls 30 to 40 aircraft., a significant number of small arms, and US-made armoured vehicles, said the US officials to Reuters.
